Committee Portfolios:
Each Committee Member is asked to take on a least one 'portfolio' role as part of being on the committee. While most of these roles are for one person, there may be portfolios which can be managed by a 2-3 members as a team. Office Bearers may also take on additional portfolios. If a nominee feels they can contribute in a way that does not appear here, please list it in the nomination form.
President:The person who provides strategic direction, leadership and ensures the organisation is running as efficiently and effectively as possible. They act as the chairperson at all meetings and is the liaison person for any communication with the Adelaide Hills Council. It is desirable that this person has an understanding of how the SCT committee works and the relationships the groups have with the SCT.
Vice President:Supports the President and takes on all the responsibilities of the President in their absence. They also are expected to take on another Committee Portfolio either on their own or in partnership with another Committee member.
Treasurer:The main person in charge of the organisation’s finances. Tasks include: ensuring bills are paid in a timely manner, and make recommendations to the committee on financial matters.
Secretary:This person works closely with the President and ensures that the administrative parts of the organisation are all in order. Tasks include taking minutes at the meetings, dealing with correspondence and understanding the organisation’s policies. They act as the Public Officer of the SCT.
Theatre Hire Manager:This person would be the primary contact for potential hirers. Computer skills are required as most customers send in email requests for hiring the facilities, and hiring documentation is all edited in Microsoft Office products. This person works closely with the Treasurer.
Costume Manager:This role is one of the more time-consuming of these portfolios. There are two costume storage facilities that need to be managed. The Costume Manager liaises with Principal Groups regarding use and purchase of costumes for their productions. Some computer skills are required as most enquiries are via email and invoices are sent electronically.
Green Shed Manager:
The expectation is that this person is to be the primary contact for set and prop items in the Green Shed behind the theatre, to maintain the space so that it is safe, manage any hire/loan of Green Shed items, and stock of consumables. Usually, the Green Shed Manager attends bump-out of resident groups so that borrowed items are replaced and any damage is noted. The SCT understands that attending bump-outs may not always be possible.
Front-Of-House Manager:
Generally, all areas of the foyer will be under the management of this person. It is this person’s responsibility to ensure stock levels are adequate and the general presentation of the foyer is appealing to the general public. While our Principal Members have their own Front-of-House person for their productions, a briefing or induction may be required.
Marketing & Publicity Manager:
This person, or team of people, will be providing recommendations to the SCT committee on marketing and publicity strategies, then manage the implementation of these plans. It is quite likely that this person will be working closely with many other members of the group to ensure full exposure of the SCT complex and the events within it. They may also provide support to Principal Members to promote productions.
Maintenance Manager:
This person’s responsibilities are to manage and maintain the maintenance register, prioritise tasks and then provide the theatre maintenance person with clear direction and instructions as to what works are required.
Technical Manager:
This person’s responsibilities are to manage and maintain the technical aspects and equipment of the theatre reporting to the SCT Committee.
Website/Social Media Co-ordinator:
This person will be responsible for maintaining the SCT website and social media pages. This person needs to have a good understanding of computers, and the current social media applications.
Principal Member Group Representatives:These people are not elected at the AGM and are not required to submit a nomination. They are appointed by the Principal Group, normally from within that group's Committee, and they have specific responsibilities as the representative. However, these people may choose to also take on another portfolio to assist the growth of the SCT and are welcome to do so at a committee meeting.
